Nothin' Like A Little Healthy Competition

I am really, really competitive.

I have been known to shout expletives in board game matches. This isn't too surprising, unless you know that otherwise, I never, ever curse. If my car were about to plummet off a cliff into crashing waves below, my last words would probably be "Awww... poop." Not anything more colorful.

But play a game of Sorry with me? Or go to bar trivia nights with me?

I get a little rowdy.

I've convinced some friends to harness my competitiveness by challenging them to a weight loss competition. Aptly titled "Hot by Halloween," the competition involves working out a few times a week and keeping within a designated calorie range. Whoever loses the most weight at the end of the month wins bragging rights. And 30 bucks.

What does this have to do with you?

I love updating this blog, but the recipes that I end up cooking are sometimes not the healthiest.  (Who's got a bookmark toolbar with separate folders for desserts, entrees and sides, each with over 30 pages saved? Thiiiiis girl!)

Starting today and going through next Sunday, I'm going to post one entry a day-- either a healthy, low-cal recipe, a healthy eating tip, or talking about one of my favorite pantry staples. It's good motivation for me, and might be helpful to those of you also trying to avoid packing on the pounds once we hit hibernation mode in November.
